Archive song

January 31st, 2007 + 8:01 PM  ·  losmorocks

Hey, it is what it is. Another archive song from Once a Traitor band practice. I wrote the song, sang lead and play acoustic. We had the song down until the guy who produced our demo had us change up the beat. After that we never quite figured it out. hmmm. Anyway, here are some lyrics:

Sunday’s Soul

If I’m still half awake when the warning comes
Will blood on my fingers pass me the blame again?
And if I only fall for the moment
Will my blasphemies linger and give me away?

Now with the breath I take for a purpose
I exhale for passion traded for apathy
Was this transaction made with a soul to pay?
And is it my purity tied to the stake?

Bridge:
But you come, you come into my world
As I lose, I lose, I’m losing my hold
Tell you placed the dust and spit on my eyes
Though I did not know that I had gone blind

Chorus
I’m searching for Sunday’s soul
And I know that it’s bigger than what I’ve seen….I know
I’m searching for Sunday’s soul
And I know that it’s more than what I’ve settled for

I have my pretense honed to a holy edge
With three clever comebacks to topple the hesitant
But with my defense down in the afterglow
I weep as the song I sing leaves me exposed

Bridge 2
Tell You come, You come, You come into my world
As I lose, I lose, I’m losing my hold
But You breathe the breath of life into life
When the lights go out and the music dies

Break
If Sunday’s dead then hope is dead again
Is Sunday dead? Is Sunday dead?

Deferred

Hey, these are lyrics to a song I am working on, and kind of stalled on. Let me know your thoughts or ideas. D.

Clearly our tangled sorrows twist the threads
To weave this tapestry
Frayed and undone along the edges,
Has this story untold me?
As we starve for sacred memories
Don't raise your holy hand to me

I'm just a line forgotten
A house abandoned

I am moved like you
And I can't erase the fact I'm broken too
My fears are giants and I'm crushed
Underneath the weight of us
And the dust of hope is blown away
Blown away

All you said was one word,
Unspoken since that day
In our closet hangs the empty home
Where children used to play
We take it out on holidays
Our love's a frightened runaway

I'm just a token promise
Told to a stranger

I am moved like you
And I can't erase the fact I'm broken too
My fears are giants and I'm crushed
Underneath the weight of us
And the dust of hope is blown away
Blown away

Heart Flower

May 28th, 2006 + 5:05 PM  ·  losmorocks

Hey, never quite sure what to post, the unprofessional stuff that I am doing now or the professionally produced stuff that I wrote but didn't have a chance to play on the final recording. This is one I did by myself. Next one will be another Once a Traitor song. Peace, d.
Here are the lyrics:
Heart Flower

With your promised faith though broken still

I know you will, I know you will

Apportion grace the scales to fill

Your justice's high demands fulfill

For an enemy to reconcile

With dirty hands and crooked smile

There's a waiver only blood can seal

The sentence paid the soul to heal

Blooms anew a flower from the flesh

Though wounds on hands and feet bleed fresh

To the fount from which redemption springs

New heirs unto the throne to bring

Theres a beauty not perceived or seen

Of bloody soul now spotless clean

Moves the judging hand to show the face

Of loving grace, amazing grace

Now the broken heart can sing

Now the children hail the king

Now the broken lift their arms and sing

Halleluiah

Still Inside

May 20th, 2006 + 1:05 AM  ·  losmorocks

Recorded at band practice with Once a Traitor. Old and low quality of course, but a fun, simple song. Here are the lyrics:

Still Inside

Verse
With a slip of the tongue I’m flat on my back once again, right where you
    found me
I think there are times when I need the disgrace to sink in, and put life in
    perspective

Bridge
With my head in my hands I pray that you’ll save me
From the freedom to fail but life’s not that easy
So I look to the day my faith will be stronger
But until that day comes, I rest in my savior again
                I rest in Him

Chorus:
And I want to run without tiring
    To tire without sleeping
    To sleep without dreaming
    To dream without waking
    To wake without rising
    To rise without falling
    To fall without losing
    To lose without walking
    To walk without running
    To run without tiring

Verse
With a slip of the tongue, I’m flat on my back once again, right where you found me
